Happy Birthday dear friend. If you are lucky, you will have one true friend in life. I found mine in Bill Doc and we have shared 20 years of great friendship but it went by so fast. We shared many a funny moment, many a great fishing trip, many a fun trip and many a shared crisis. We helped each other by lending a shoulder to lean on or just listening to a heavy weight on our mind. Time is now taking it's tole on our friendship by bringing it to an end. We all grow old and invariably, we all leave this Earth. I still look forward to seeing Bill and we still laugh when we are together. I will be there for him to the end because I know he would do the same for me. God has granted him another wonderful birthday and with Gods' grace, he will be there for my birthday, that will be the greatest present I would wish for.

So sorry too, but I'm glad he had a friend like you.
I think you coming into his life a couple decades ago enhanced the quality and shine of his last two decades on this earth in a rich and rewarding way that gave him much joy and happiness and a satisfaction in a life well lived.
And I hope those memories stay alive and rewarding to you for the rest of your life because the both of you shared more than a friendship..you shared "being awesome".
I'm thankful my precious uncle got the joy of your friendship, and I'm thankful you got the joy of his.
And I don't know the answer to the healing of the giant loss, except to know that a moment in time will come when in the twitch of an eye we will be with him again without the mortal struggles we have here.
And we'll see that his laughter and his love didn't stop...and that he will always..be with you on your birthday.
Thats an awesome chicken by the way. I think I've seen that look on you. LOL
