The Last Hurrah! I found this Tomato plant yesterday and what is amazing is that I thought I had cleaned out all the Tomato plants in the yard. This one re-grew from the bottom of the bucket during the past 4 weeks when we had lots of rain and warm weather. Guess I will leave it until next Spring and see what developes.

Achilles and the Tortoise: Imagine that Achilles meets a Tortoise, who challenges him to a foot race. Achilles is amused when the Tortoise asks merely for a modest head start. But then the Tortoise explains that by agreeing to this demand, Achilles has already lost! The logic, says the Tortoise, is that if he starts ahead of Achilles at point A, Achilles will have to run to point A before he can overtake the Tortoise (which is, of course, obvious enough). Meanwhile, the Tortoise will have moved ahead slightly to point B. Again, Achilles must advance to point B before he can push ahead, by which time the Tortoise will have traveled farther (if only by inches), to point C. And so on. Although with each successive point in the race the Tortoise moves smaller and smaller distances, Achilles never quite catches up, always remaining one segment behind. And thus, says Zeno, the faster can never overtake the slower.

Before anyone gets their shorts in a wad and thinks I am referring to them, I AM NOT. I am just spouting off on one of my pet peeves.
I am watching Judge Joe Brown and I heard this defendant say " My anger issues caused me to do harm to my mothers home". Have we as a society moved so far to the left that we are no longer responsible for our actions? Have the "liberal do gooders" finally achieved their goals that no-one is responsible for their actions because of their raising. We are to learn from our actions and the actions of others as well as the actions of our parents. Take responsibility for your actions. Own up to your actions. Learn from your actions and control your actions. The Judge raked this 23 year old dropout and lazy, non working, dredge to society, over the coals.
Just Spouting off on a pet peeve.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT---

Believe it or not- these are from a respectable school and from their research- Remember "It is what it is"...

Warning Signs of a Drinking Problem
No single sign identifies a problem drinker, but a pattern of behaviors can indicate a problem:

Loss of Control - attempts to cut down or control drinking fail. Repeated promises to "be more careful" or to "cut down on drinking." Gets drunk when intending to stay sober.

Black Outs - unable to recall all or part of a drinking episode. Doesn't remember what was said or done when drunk (blacking out is different from passing out).

Increased Tolerance - needs more alcohol than before to get the same effects. Tolerance increases after repeated high use drinking.

Drinking Causes Problems - continues drinking even though it causes academic, legal, health, financial, or relationship problems.

Personality Changes When Drinking - a normally nice person, becomes mean or abusive when drinking.

Neglects Responsibilities - absent or late for classes, meetings, appointments, or work due to hangovers or intoxication.

Preoccupation with Drinking - frequently thinks about drinking. Gives up activities that don't involve drinking. Avoids socializing with friends who don't drink.

Pre-Partying - drinks alcohol before going to a party where alcohol will be served. Also, "chugs" drinks to get drunk as quickly as possible. May also sneak drinks so others don't know how much he/she is really drinking.

Denial and Minimizing - claims not to drink excessively, despite evidence to the contrary. Minimizes the amount of drinking ("I only had a couple of drinks"). Avoids talking about his/her own drinking. Justifies drinking and tries to characterize it as normal, despite problems.

Susceptible to Accidents, Injuries, or Illnesses - more likely to be hurt in falls, in fights, or by "bumping" into things.

Drinking to Feel Normal - drinks to cope, to escape from problems, to solve a problem, or to feel like everyone else.

Drinking to Start the Day - drinks when getting up in the morning to control tremors or shakes after drinking the night before.

Guess where ayla and I went for the BEST BURGER in the state? Yep, it was to Wheelers and it was just as great as ever. We went to aunt Kathy's but she wasn't home so we left her some Butterscotch/Potato Chip cookies and then we went to Wheelers. Come to find out, she was in Ada-Hmmm. We were going to take her with us and that did not pan out. I know we should have communicated with her but sometimes the adventure is worth it. We drove the back roads and drove slowly. A beautiful, warm, sunny Fall day that we enjoyed immensely.

I issued a challenge to someone on Oct 1st to see if he could go 60 days without a beer and here is the response. " I've decided to make the sacrifice and check myself into my own self induced rehab. As a means of testing to see if I'm "addicted" to beer and able to manage just one or two a day...I'm taking Papa G's challenge he gave me...go 60 days without any. Sounds reasonable to me...I know I could go 60 days without soda, in fact that is less than the usual time spread between cokes for me. Now I'm not adopting a teetotaler attitude because I do believe it to be a tasty and beneficial drink, but only if it can be on my terms not an addiction craving". Well 1 month later I am reissuing the challenge. You know, Indians and alcohol don't mix.
